The security of your cryptocurrency is ultimately in your hands. The most important rule is to protect your private keys and recovery phrases: anyone who has them controls your funds. Write your recovery phrase on paper, store it in a safe place and never share it with anyone.
Use strong, unique passwords for every exchange account and enable two-factor authentication wherever possible. Be especially careful with phishing: always check the website address before logging in, and remember that legitimate support staff will never ask for your password or seed phrase.
For larger amounts, consider a hardware wallet that keeps your keys offline. Keep your devices updated, avoid public Wi-Fi when accessing your accounts and double-check destination addresses before sending: blockchain transactions cannot be reversed.
A few minutes of caution can save you from losses that no one can undo. Treat your crypto like cash in a vault, not like a balance a bank can restore.
